Activities for 1 year old babies
1. Spaghetti pick up
Time
- 5 to 10 minutes
Materials
- Pieces of cooked spaghetti (for babies who are able to eat finger foods)
Directions
- Many babies will stick to this activity until they succeed. Place a few strands of the cooked spaghetti in front of the baby at the highchair or table.
- Let the baby experiment with picking up the pieces and eating them. If necessary, cut the pieces into sizes that can be easily swallowed.
Extensions
- Cover the spaghetti with an inverted plastic bowl and let the child discover it.
- Pull your baby's two hands gently together and place a fistful of the spaghetti in them.
- Cut one piece of spaghetti into smaller pieces.
- Say, "Give me one," and slurp it up when it is put into your mouth.
2. Unwrapped it
Time
- 10 to 15 minutes
Materials
- Empty box wrapped in paper
Directions
Babies love to unwrap boxes, and you can cater to that joyful activity by wrapping a few to be torn open.
Extensions
- Enclose small favorite belongings like blankets, books, or toys.
- Substitute the newspaper comics for wrapping paper.
- Wrap a few pieces of cereal or crackers inside.
Time
- 10 to 15 minutes

- dice and mat with letters
Directions
- prepare a mat with letters
- Roll the dice and play like snake and ladder
- count and stop
- sound out the letter (phonics)
