New technologies tools in action

MY EXPERIENCES!!

Last week our discussion was on how to use technology tools for children. At first, we wanted to use “Kahoot”. We found that“Kahoot” could not add any pictures for answers. So we went through other assessment tools such as “ezpuzzle” and “quizizz”. We found “quizziz” to be more user-friendly. It was so colourful and attractive too.

When I went back home, I was thinking about how to expand the use of “quizizz” and to make my class interesting.. Then I remembered that my students will be having exams in two weeks’ time, so I created one set of quiz for them using “quizizz”. It took me only 1/2 hour to completed one set of quiz with 12 questions related to the foundation in early childhood education.

Here I share some pictures of how my students got through the quiz. You can see that they are participating well in the quiz.

From this, I have learned that students get more engaged in class activities when I involve them with “quizizz”. Lots of students are asking for more quiz using “quizizz”. While playing “quizizz”, I observed that some of them are not scared and are trying hard to answer the questions although they make mistakes.. 

They asked to play one more time. However, they did not show their name for the second session. They knew that I am able to identify who had the wrong answers and how many wrong answers. This will also help the teacher to get to know better on how to monitor their student's achievement and we can assess which area they have not mastered yet. From the picture below, you can see that some are red and some are green. The green one shows the correct answer but the red one will show an incorrect answer. 

We can also monitor who finishes first at which level and questions that we need to focus on more. For example for question 1, the “quizizz” will state that 1 are incorrect and 1 correct. With that, we can find out why and improve in our teaching styles for that question. Besides that, we can show parents the progress too. It can be the evidence that students are learning something from this “quizizz”. Students also get an opportunity to do “quizizz” at home with their parents. 

Moreover, “quizizz” is very easy for teachers to use to develop the questions because we just follow the format and prepare the questions. The questions will automatically be uploaded for us. We don’t need to create the sound or any images. We can just follow from what has been prepared for us. There are also some examples from other schools and we can use that to guide us on how to plan the quiz.
